Belief Statement
We believe young Black boys must be held to the highest academic standards. Rejected is the deficit language that surrounds them and is too easily found in the media and educational discourse. While we recognize the adverse social context under which many young men live, through research, dialogue, training and service an environment that promotes the values of learning, prosperity, unity, and self-worth will be realized.
Stat of the Week
59% of Black Males in the 4th grade achieve at or above basic level in mathematics on the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP 2005).
