The Schott Foundation for Public Education has published a web-based 50 State Report on Public Education and Black Males. The website is a data portal that provides parents, educators, media, policymakers, elected officials—and anyone who cares about education and equity—direct access to important, alarming data on the devastating reality of education for Black males across all 50 states.
For Whom the Bell Tolls: An Analysis of Suspensions & Expulsions, Alternative School Placement, and Annual Dropout Rates of African American Students in North Carolina.
Historically the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) has distributed annual reports on school crime, violence, suspensions, expulsions and dropout rates. This year those reports are presented in a new publication, the Consolidated Report on School Crime and Violence, Suspensions and Expulsions, and Annual Dropout Rates. This report is an analysis of the data presented in the NCDPI report as it relates to African American students.
